A rare thing happened on Friday morning…….I had to make breakfast with no eggs!  A protein shake would have been the best answer to this conundrum, but it was a chilly morning and I just couldn’t do it.

I ended up eating a piece of cinnamon french toast (from the freezer) with peanut butter on it.

2 Hour After Meal Blood Sugar = 143!  (goal 120)  I knew this wasn’t going to work out very well.  I can get away with one piece of this french toast if I have it with eggs, but the peanut butter apparently wasn’t enough protein.  I need to devise some egg-less breakfasts (not frozen!) for mornings such as this.  Maybe a small bowl of oatmeal with a scoop of protein powder mixed in?  Some Greek yogurt with berries, nuts or seeds? I’ll have to give these a try to see how I do with them.

Rio’s eyes were looking a lot better on Friday morning!  She is doing the cutest thing now, usually when I lift her out of her high chair.  She puts her arms around my neck and gives me a super squeezy hug and then she grabs my face and gives me a big open mouth smooch!  :D

The kids were home from daycare again, so we spent the morning playing and hanging out.

For lunch I sliced up a jalapeno cheddar sausage link, and had it on a salad of lettuce, shredded carrots, corn and black beans.  For dressing I used a big dollop of jalapeno yogurt.

While Rio took her nap Nick and I did an arm workout called “I Want Those Arms” with Tamilee Webb.  I have one of her videos which has several short workouts.  This one was 15 minutes long.  After Rio got up we grabbed the double stroller and went for a big loop around the neighborhood.

At Costco I got a huge piece of salmon.  I cooked up about 1/3 of it in the oven with dill, onion powder, S&P, and a few dots of butter. We had this with baked (microwaved) potatoes, and frozen broccoli.

1 Hour After Meal Blood Sugar = 146 (goal 140)  Not too far over goal, but I was surprised because the potato I ate wasn’t very big.  :(

After dinner I dragged myself to the grocery store (finally) to get some groceries for the rest of the week.  The store was surprisingly busy at 8pm!  I had to rush home to help Ross give Rio her eye drops before bed.  It’s hard to keep her up long past 8.

Nick had a rough night for the second night in a row.  I don’t know if he isn’t feeling well or if he is just having nightmares or something, but he keeps waking up crying and screaming.  When I ask him why he is crying he says “I don’t know” but he is always half asleep while we are having these conversations.  He woke up three times before I went to bed so I ended up spending the night in his room, trying to sleep while he tossed and turned all night.

I woke up this morning (Saturday) feeling like dirt.  My throat was starting to tickle last night before bed, and this morning I was achy and fatigued.  Everyone must be feeling somewhat off, because we all slept until about 9:30! I was so glad that it was machaca burrito Saturday, because I didn’t have the energy to cook.

I didn’t test my sugar levels today, because when I’m sick they come out all wacky.  I don’t want to waste the strips on numbers that aren’t meaningful.

During Rio’s nap I laid down and half-napped while Nick played games on my phone and watched the Iron Giant on my Kindle.  We are Amazon Prime members, so there are movies that he can stream for free.  The nap didn’t help me much and mostly just made me groggy.

I had a leftover hamburger patty and some ice cream after my nap.  I thought the ice cream would help wake me up, but it didn’t.  When Rio got up from her nap we all went outside for a little while to play.  I declared myself too sick to push the cozy coupe today and made Nick do all the hard work.  I only got one blurry picture of them zooming by.

I don’t know if it was the fresh air or the advil that I took, but I started feeling like a half-human when we came back in.  I felt well enough to cook dinner anyway.  I had some pork chops which were marinating in Guy Fieri’s bottled Pacific Rim Wok Sauce, so Ross threw them on the grill while I oven roasted a bunch of swiss chard with olive oil, S&P, walnuts, and feta cheese.  I also microwaved some sweet potatoes and dressed them with light butter and pumpkin pie spice.

Last night at the grocery store I picked up this puzzle for Nick.  He’s been in a puzzle phase lately and he keeps putting the same ones together over and over.  This one is 60 pieces.  I should have gotten one with 100 pieces because he’s put this one together about 10 times already!  Nick is the puzzle master!   :D

While typing this up I’ve been sipping on one of the teas from my Adagio green rooibos sampler pack.  I picked the Green Rooibos Key West because it has mango and apricot flavors. I thought it would go well with the mango apricot Greek yogurt that I had with it.  The yogurt and the tea were both yummy!

Since I’m usually typing while we watch Game of Thrones at night, I always read the Entertainment Weekly online recaps to make sure I understand what is going on.  The recaps are so hilarious!  I think reading them is more fun than watching the actual show.

I hope you all are enjoying your weekend.  Hopefully I’ll have more spring in my step tomorrow.  I’d like to take the bike trailer out for a spin.
