Another New Year

Another New Year

So I was all ready to start talking about New Year’s Eve and then I realized that I didn’t post anything yet for Sunday (New Year’s Eve Eve?) I processed, uploaded, and categorized the photos while we were watching Game of Thrones on Sunday night, but then it got late and I didn’t create a post.

We had machaca burrito (Senor Taco) Sunday rather than machaca burritto Saturday this week.  As always, I took half out of the tortilla for Rio.

Nick and I were running a few errands around town in the afternoon, so we popped in to Jack in the Box for some lunch.  I had the Grilled Chicken Club Salad.  I drizzled on some ranch at home.  Aaaannnd….I ate a few of Nick’s fries.  :D

For Dinner we had some of our Omaha Steaks.  We cooked a couple of filet mignons and a couple of boneless sirloin strips and sampled each.  I thought they tasted pretty similar, but the filet was much more tender.  On the side we had sliced potatoes sauteed with onions and some asparagus that was oven roasted at 450 for about 10 minutes with olive oil, salt, and lemon pepper.  The little saucer has A-1 and a creamy horseradish sauce in it.  I love creamy horseradish!

After the kids went to bed we continued on with Season 1 of Game of Thrones and sipped on Irish Coffee.  I browsed through many recipes and finally ended up using decaf coffee (about 8oz), 1 oz Jack Daniels, 2 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream, and a spoonful of splenda, all topped with whipped cream and nutmeg.  Maybe this is why I got Sunday’s pictures uploaded but didn’t get a post done????

Fasting Blood Sugar = 115

I forgot to weigh myself!  Maybe I’ll do it tomorrow morning. (Wednesday)

For breakfast we had scrambled eggs with diced ham.  This was the last of the ham that Ross’ mom brought over on Christmas.

The kids went to daycare for a few hours while Ross and I got some work done.  We decided to head over to Buckeye for lunch.  There is a little pizza place we go to there and right now the name is escaping me! Anyway, they have a good antipasto salad, which is what I had.

I picked the kids up at about 3:00 and we stopped at the park near their daycare to play for about 45 minutes.  Rio now wants to climb up with the big kids so I have to follow her around the entire time.  It’s exhausting!

Ross’ Mom (Gloria) brought over some corned beef for our New Year’s Eve Dinner.  I still had a huge bag of uncooked green beans that I didn’t use on Christmas, so we had them as a side dish, along with mashed potatoes.  I also finished off the last of the Pioneer Woman Burgundy Mushrooms from Christmas dinner.  (sniff sniff)  Horsey sauce was the condiment of choice!

After dinner the kids squeezed in their last play time for 2012.

At about 8:30 the doorbell rang and a package was at our door.  We don’t know if the delivery truck was out that late or if a neighbor dropped it off.  It was my new camera bag!  Yay!  I got it from Amazon because it was about half the price that Fry’s Electronics wanted for it.

We decided to finally open up this bottle of Dom Perignon that we’ve had for over 3 years.  I was convinced that it had gone bad because when we moved to Arizona it was stored in one of our PODS for about 2 months. I don’t think those things are air conditioned or anything.   But, it tasted fine to us.  None of us had tried it before so we didn’t know what it was supposed to taste like.  It was still very bubbly.

The kids were in bed and Ross was in the shower when midnight came around, so Squirty was the only one to give me a goodnight kiss.  She tolerated me picking her up and putting some smoochies on her furry little doggie face.   :)

Happy New Year everyone!  I think 2012 might go on record as one of our best years, but of course I hope that 2013 will exceed it!  I’m so thankful to have been able to spend the holidays with family and friends.

Best wishes to all for a happy and healthy 2013!   WooooooHooooo!!!!!   :D
